What is the Microsoft Office Specialist | MOS Championship?

The Microsoft Office Specialist | MOS Championship presented by XCERIO New Zealand is part of a global competition that tests students’ skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel® and PowerPoint® (2013 or 2016).

The top scoring students from across New Zealand and the Pacific Islands will be awarded an all expenses-paid invitation to represent New Zealand in their chosen application at the Microsoft Office Worldwide Competition in Orlando, Florida.

How Do I Compete?

Stage One: Open Online Qualifier

Schools who wish to participate in the Open Online Qualifier will receive a competition kit which includes the GMetrix Practice Software. At any time, students from schools can submit test scores simply by completing the practice exams. On the 25th May 2018 the highest scores (based exclusively on score and then time) from around New Zealand will be calculated and top participants will be invited to compete in the National Qualifier Round.

Stage Two: National Qualifier Round

Schools and Students who successfully qualify for the National Qualifier Round will receive access to a new test within GMetrix on the 28th of May which must be completed before the 1st of June 2018.

Students who produce the highest scores (Based exclusively on score and then time) will be invited to compete in Auckland at the National Championship where three participants will be invited on an all expenses paid trip to represent New Zealand at the Worldwide Championship in Orlando, Florida.

Competing for a National and World Championship is a nerve-racking experience. Like in all aspects of life, adequate preparation is the key to success. This is why for those schools interested in competing in this years Microsoft Office Championship we’ve created a special pack to allow your students to get the best preparation possible using our Exam Simulation and Practice Tool, GMetrix.

GMetrix is a way students can experience the types of questions they will be expected to answer in the official Microsoft Office Specialist Exam in a low pressure environment. They’ll have the opportunity to receive instant-feedback, step-by-step tutorials on how to perform particular tasks and familiarize themselves with the exam format.

GMetrix questions do differ to the Microsoft Office Specialist Exam Questions, but do follow the same learning objectives and is used globally as the preferred practice testing software. In fact, it’s the exact same software we provide to our commercial customers.

Microsoft Office World Championship

Orlando, Florida

The 2018 Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) World Championship is now open for students between ages 13-22 to enter. By passing a Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam, students can enter the competition and have a chance to win a trip to Orlando, Florida to represent New Zealand from 31 July – 2 August, 2018.

The top scoring New Zealand representatives will have the opportunity to compete on a global stage with an all expenses-paid trip to Orlando, USA where they will have the chance to score cash prizes, scholarships and the accolade of the 2018 MOS World Champion!
